# Is Erlang support AES-256-GCM-SIV in crypto application?

Is it possible to use the AES-256-GCM-SIV from `crypto:crypto_one_time_aead/6`?

No. `crypto` does not seem to implement the [SIV Mode in OpenSSL](https://docs.openssl.org/3.3/man3/EVP_EncryptInit/#siv-mode).

@sverker Thank you for the answer. Is it make sense to add to the erlang crypto? I have a prototype at [GitHub - wingyplus/otp at aes-gcm-siv · GitHub](https://github.com/wingyplus/otp/tree/aes-gcm-siv) so I can polish and open a pull request if it is make sense.

I don’t know any reason to reject AES-GCM-SIV in `crypto`.
