Are there any viable options for hosting a small Erlang application for free? I plan on releasing my app as open source so paying $5 to $10 a month isn’t sustainable. I know Heroku had a free option, they since have removed it due to abuse. Any ideas?

If you’re comfortable running your own linux VM, then Oracle Cloud Free Tier | Oracle has a juicy arm64 tier ( 4 cores, 24GiB RAM, 50GiB disk). Erlang runs very well on arm64.

Render offers a free 512MB 0.1CPU instance which goes into sleep mode after 15 minutes of inactivity.
Sleep mode can be avoided by using free uptime monitoring from Honeybadger.io or others.
Northflank, a Heroku-like alternative has a free tier.
