Erlang installation takes more time on internet-enabled machines with Trend Micro Apex One Security Agent

During the installation of Erlang and RabbitMQ, “Trend Micro Apex One Security Agent(Vesion:14.0.14002)” scanning significantly slows down the process by actively scanning the installation directories (C:\Program Files\Erlang OTP and C:\Program Files\RabbitMQ). To resolve this, the we have added these paths to the exception list in Trend Micro.

During testing on Windows Server 2025 (Standard 24H2) and Windows Server 2022 (Standard 21H2), we observed that Trend Micro Apex One Security Agent requires exclusions for the directories “C:\Program Files\Erlang OTP and C:\Program Files\RabbitMQ” when using the latest Erlang versions (27.x or 27.x.x and 28.x).

These exclusions are specifically needed only on internet-enabled machines.

In contrast, earlier Erlang versions such as 25.x and 26.x did not require these exclusions on the same server platforms.

Notably, on Windows 10 Pro for Workstations (22H2), all tested Erlang versions (25.x, 26.x, 27.x, and 28.x) functioned correctly without any exclusions, even on internet-enabled systems.

Is there a specific reason why Erlang versions 27.x.x and 28.x.x require exclusions on Windows Server 2025 and 2022?
Could this be due to changes in the operating system, Erlang’s behavior, or the way Trend Micro handles scanning on these platforms?
