I have an ESP32-C3 with a small 72×40 SSD1306 OLED display. I tried AtomVM, which was working fine, but I’d now like to switch back to Arduino.
After trying to flash Arduino firmware, the display stays black and the board keeps rebooting with this error:
Guru Meditation Error: Core 0 panic'ed (Stack protection fault) in loopTask.
I’ve tried erasing the flash with espflash erase-flash, but the issue persists.
Has anyone experienced this when switching from AtomVM back to Arduino? How can I properly restore Arduino firmware, and what should I check in my board configuration or ESP32 core installation?
there shouldnt be anything special - if you have done erase-flash AtomVM is completely gone, so perhaps mostly an issue with your arduino setup? try a simpler sketch first? and maybe you need to increase arduino stack size etc SET_LOOP_TASK_STACK_SIZE, most likely your display buffer?
You can also try power cycling the board after the erase-flash. Unplug the usb and plug it back in before flashing a simple Arduino sketch - like hello world, or blinky. You also might try power cycling after flashing the Arduino sketch, this shouldn’t be needed, but maybe the Arduino flasher isn’t using the —hard-reset option when flashing.
