How did you learn Erlang?

Helping design it arguably takes more effort than just learning it after it’s designed though

Nah, he just sat around taking phone calls. I’ve seen the video of him at work

Did you study computer science at university?

Nop, to be honest, I didn’t go to university or college at all :upside_down_face:.

Are you self taught?

Yep.

Which books have you read that you found helpful?

  • Programming Erlang author Joe Armstrong
  • Learn You Some Erlang for Great Good! author @MononcQc - This is a great opportunity to express gratitude to @MononcQc - your book, topics, videos is amazing, many thanks for your hard work and for knowledge sharing!

I think these two books influenced me a lot and tightened me into Erlang world.

What about other online courses? (Maybe some of you have done @simonthompson’s courses?)

Yes, but after trying Erlang in production :upside_down_face:. The Functional Programming in Erlang - Online Course and Concurrent Programming in Erlang - Online Course.
