Joe Armstrong’s birthday, December 27th, and the publication date of his dissertation, “Making reliable distributed systems in the presence of software errors,” in 2003.

Agner Krarup Erlang’s birthday on January 1st 1878.

May 27th 1990 - The XIII International Switching Symposium from May 27th to June 1st, 1990, in Stockholm. Joe and Robert presented the paper “Erlang - An Experimental Telephony Programming Language” at this conference, marking the first official mention of Erlang outside Ericsson.
