macOS had always used your Account Name as your Username (Case-Preserving) but from around Catalina onwards it started downcasing usernames, so /Users/Yourname became /Users/yourname.
Is your username Capitalised or lowercased and which do you prefer?
My home directory is lowercase and I don’t mind/prefer it lowercase
My home directory is lowercase but I would prefer it Capitalised

If you’ve run into any issues because of it please say
(If you’re wondering why they started lowercasing usernames they said it was to improve compatibility and reduce issues with command-line tools/scripts - though I never had any issues myself)
From what I recall I’ve always had lower case names on Unix systems, since University in the 90:ties.
My name (Håkan) also doesn’t work well with English and the ASCII character set, so I tend to use hokan instead, as this works well with ASCII and is reasonably close phonetically.
Sometimes I end up with hakan, but this is usually when I get assigned an email or user account name without my input.
Have you always had lower case names on macOS too? Afaik they only started forcing lowercase names with Catalina (around 2019) so maybe you were choosing a lowercase name yourself if you were on a Mac before then?
Due to setting the home folder name manually, I’ve probably always picked lower case by habit, independent of what the OS picks by default (presumably something like hakanlastnameor HakanLastname ).
