Erlang Forums 2026 Update!

Hi Everyone!

Sorry about the delay in this year’s update - it’s the Elixir Forum’s tenth birthday this month so we held off posting the updates until now.

2025 has been another great year for Erlang! On the forum we smashed our records again last year, having served over 350K pageviews in a single month - that’s more than double the record we set last year (150K in a single month). We also served over 2.5M pages for the entire year - that’s a million more than the previous year! This reflects a growing interest in Erlang, both from a user and project creator perspective, where we saw a new Erlang web framework and not one, but two new BEAM languages!

In case you missed them:

There were also lots of other interesting/cool libraries, such as Erlang-RED (Erlang interpreter for Node-RED flow code), Kaos (A combinator library for generating advanced random data structures), mnesia-rocksdb (a fast and scalable mnesia backend), Erlfmt (a opinionated formatter for Erlang) and loads more!

We also saw a major Erlang release:

And a new native datatype: Native Records:

All in all it’s been a fantastic year for Erlang and the forum :048:

Let’s now move on to what we’ve got in store for you this year…

As a thank you, we have an ebook for each of our winners! We have 25 books from PragProg and 25 from Manning so if you are listed above, please PM @AstonJ with your first choice from one publisher and your second choice from the other, as well as your full name, country of residence and email address - we’ll then allocate these on a first come first serve basis :023: (They don’t have to be an Elixir book either, they can be any book so long as they are published by either PragProg or Manning.)

Forum plans for 2026

As mentioned in our Elixir Forum update we will be making some fairly big changes to the way the forum is structured this year, these changes should make the forum easier to post on, moderate, and closer in line to what we had planned for our custom platform.

If you’d like to learn more about this, or if you’ve ever wondered about the reasoning behind some of our policies and moderation guidelines, you might actually enjoy the Elixir Forum’s update - we took a trip down memory lane and covered why we’ve made some of the decisions we have (which of course have been echoed here) and we also talk about what we have in store for the forum, which will again also be echoed here over time. Well worth a read if you’re interested!

Wrapping up

As many of you know for years Erlang was one of tech’s best kept secrets, slowly but surely though more and more people are coming to Erlang, perhaps aided by the help of AI. Who knows - maybe we’ll see even more dialects of Erlang being put together with the help of increasingly capable LLMs! It’s an exciting time to be an Erlanger that’s for sure, and we can’t wait to see where Erlang and its ecosystem will be another decade from now!

Wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2026!
